Nepal plane crash: Saurya Airlines aircraft skids off a runway and catches flames. Pilot survives, 18 die
A plane carrying 19 people on board slipped off the runway and crashed on Wednesday while attempting to take off from Tribhuvan[1]
According to media reports and officials, at least 18 dead have been discovered from the tiny aircraft that caught fire on Wednesday after it skidded off the runway during departure from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.[2]
However, the pilot has been found and is receiving medical attention at the hospital. Airport security head Arjun Chand Thakuri stated, “The plain skidded off the runway and crashed into a field east of the runway.” The aircraft, operated by local carrier Saurya Airlines, was transporting two crew members and seventeen technicians to Pokhara Valley for maintenance inspection.[3]
Thakuri verified the reuters’ reports. Emergency personnel put out the fire that resulted from the collision.[4]
